I’ve Got No High Horse. Let’s Create in Whatever You’ve Got.

I see designers scoffing at creating work in Canva or other ‘lesser’ apps. The reality is that a good designer can create something wonderful in whatever you’ve got. Over the years I have found customers don’t have the Adobe Suite, or Figma, or whatever the latest designer fav is. They have what they know how to use. AI can help, but people still need something they are comfortable with changing later.

While I agree that using a designer-focused app is usually faster for someone like me who knows the ins and outs of a lot of apps, everyday people are overwhelmed by the complexity of those apps, let alone the cost. So I say, “Get off your high horse!”

Canva is certainly a step up from designing in Powerpoint or Word. and it helps non-designers create something nice that they can edit themselves – which is often a bigger selling point!

Using an app like Canva is also a great starting point for a designer to understand what customers have in mind. Many times a starter doc might just need finessing, or a marketing eye to make it awesome.
